Plan B

Last night Kevin and I planned to meet my parents and step-brother for dinner at Lam’s Garden, a place that we’ve frequented pretty often. However, upon arriving, the restaurant had a weird stench that smelled like a combination of mildew and body odor. I had never experienced anything like that there before, and the smell was very strong. We decided it’d be best to eat somewhere else since the smell was so nauseating. We wondered if their lobster tank was dirty or if the rain from the past few days seeped into the building causing that smell.

We made a quick decision to go down the road to Sea Thai, which we had been to only once before. They were pretty crowded for a Wednesday evening, and the service was a little slow, but everything was pretty tasty. In the typical behavior of my dad, we ordered a ton of appetizers.

Fried Tofu

Fried Crab Cheese

Summer Rolls

The appetizers came out about ten minutes apart from one another. The fried tofu was good but was a little bland. I also tried the summer rolls, which just weren’t as good as my favorite ones at Thai Singha, though I did like that they had shrimp in them.

My main course was delicious. I ordered the yellow curry with tofu at medium spiciness.

Sea Thai - Yellow Curry

The heat was perfect. It warmed my throat without being too unbearable. The curry had so much flavor. I just wanted to drink it.

Also ordered at the table:

Chicken Satay

Sea Thai - Chicken Satay

Soft Shell Crab Yellow Curry

South East Asian Phad Thai

Thai Fried Rice

The food there is very good, but be warned that the service is a little slow. I loved my curry and left having eaten way too much (as usual). Overall, it was a good second choice after Lam’s fell through.

  1. The first restaurant sounds awful! I’m glad that you chose somewhere else to eat. I love fried rice :)

  2. You just expressed my EXACT feelings about the summer rolls at Sea Thai! I was so excited when I saw them on the menu there, but they were very bland in my opinion. Thai Singha has the best around!
:( Man, now I miss my Orlando restaurants
