Garibaldi

Thank you for all the support for my friend. It has been a long week, but every day there has been small victories. I believe in the power of positivity and prayer, and I really think he’s going to pull through this in part due to how supportive everyone in his life is. Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts.

Last week, a few of us went to Garibaldi Mexican Restaurant on Semoran Boulevard after hearing that people love it. I learned that there are two Garibaldi restaurants in Orlando, but they are no longer affiliated. This was supposedly the better of the two.

The restaurant looks authentic and had all the makings of a good Mexican restaurant. It’s a small hole in the wall, and the menu had a lot of variety.

Kevin ordered steak fajitas (minus the peppers), which he really liked.

I actually took his leftovers and ate the steak with scrambled eggs the next evening for dinner. There was a lot of seasoning and flavor, which made the steak taste even better the next day.

Our friend Bryan ordered cheese enchiladas that were topped with shredded pork. He really enjoyed the flavor of the pork.

Garibaldi - Enchiladas

I ordered an enchilada platter that had a variety of different types of enchiladas: cheese, bean, chicken and beef.

I think I may have misordered because my food was not nearly as flavorful as my dining companions’. The fillings in the enchiladas were very bland. The cheese enchilada ended up being the most flavorful. There was also really no enchilada sauce, which contributed to the blandness. I was really disappointed in my meal, but it seems like they do have some good items on the menu. I just need to find them next time.

I’m still on the search for a good Mexican meal that hits the spot.

I hope you had a great weekend. This workweek is a little different because we get Wednesday off for 4th of July, which will be a nice mid-week break but I’m sure it will feel strange.

How will you be celebrating the 4th?

  1. Bummer on the Mexican food! It should not be bland. No plans as of yet, but I hope you have a great holiday!

  2. I love Mexican food! I’m sorry that it didn’t taste good. That really stinks. I don’t have any plans except to relax :)

  3. I’m headed to CO for the holiday, excited for a getaway!

  4. I don’t have any plans! I can’t believe it. Just excited for a day off of work. We might start packing up our apartment a little bit.

  5. we have friends coming into town. excited to spend time with them.

I didn’t know the two garabaldi’s were no longer affiliated with each other. interesting. i have NO idea why it is so hard to find good mexican in orlando. in gainesville we loved las margaritas, but there’s nothing like that here that i can see.

  6. All that food looks so good! I agree, it sort of stinks getting only the 4th off, but a mid-week break will be nice. Especially after having a long week last-week!

  7. I feel like, for some reason, it’s really hard for restaurants to make good enchiladas. You would think it would be the easiest one to conquer! :) We aren’t doing anything for the 4th, probably go see a movie! :)

  8. Aww don’t you just hate when your pick is the dud?? I have a 5k race on the 4th and am trying to go to at Garden concert at a local museum. It’ll probably be a lazy day otherwise.

  9. I’ll be at a baseball game followed by a regatta.
