Kevin and I just returned from a long weekend in Chicago for my cousin’s wedding! It was an amazing and busy weekend. This was Kevin’s first trip there, so I wanted him to be able to see as much as possible. I was born in Chicago and still have a lot of family that resides there, so it was great to share with him a city where I have so many great memories.
We flew into Chicago on Thursday and checked into out hotel right in downtown Chicago.
Kevin and I have a tradition of checking out our hotel gyms when we travel, so I was happy to get in a workout on Thursday after we checked in. The gym was small but had everything you’d need for a quick workout. The gym was on the 27th floor, so the views of downtown didn’t hurt either. A workout is a great way to shake off that groggy feeling from sitting on a plane.
Kevin also brought the TRX set so he could even work out from the hotel room. It just hooks over a closed door, so you can really use it anywhere.
Our hotel provides complimentary breakfast every morning, which helped us to be able to splurge a little more on the rest of our meals throughout the day. They had a pretty wide selection of pastries, yogurts, eggs, sausage, waffles, etc. They also had a neat instant oatmeal machine where you hold the bowl under the machine, like a soda fountain, and it releases the oats and hot water simultaneously. Then, they had a variety of fixings to dress your oatmeal however you’d like.
Kevin and I got to see a lot of the city. Even though it was chilly (high in the 50s!), we were able to explore by foot. I’ll recap our food adventures and the wedding later.
Hope you had a great weekend! Even though we had a blast, it feels great to be home!
