Soup’s on

At what point is it too warm to eat soup? Temperatures around here have been hitting the upper 80s, but that didn’t stop my friend Erica or me yesterday at lunchtime. We met up at OLV in SoDo and the blasting A/C put soup on both our radars.

Erica went with tomato basil, and I got butternut squash.

It was nice to be able to taste some fall flavors again. The butternut squash soup was incredibly thick and sweet. OLV added shaved apples, which was a perfect tart touch.

For our main courses, Erica ordered the roasted turkey breast sandwich, and I ordered my usual smoked salmon wrap.

One of my favorite things about OLV is the terra chips that come as a side option. They’re made from different vegetables and taste great.

I am officially hooked on working out in the mornings. I love having my evenings open and being done with my workout around the same time my alarm would have normally been ringing. Some days are more difficult than others, but after the first week, it really does get easier to wake up. I’m still debating between gyms, but at least I have my routine down.

Do you ever drink soup when it’s warm out?

  1. I love soup! I will eat it still when it’s warm out especially if I have a craving for it. The butternut squash soup and the chips look yummy :)

  2. No such thing as too much soup ;) Now you’ve got me craving a good creamy butternut squash one. To go to OLV or just to make one at home…decisions, decisions!

  3. I could bathe in butternut squash soup. It is so delicious. Um yeah so what is up with this weather? Summer is going to be hot hot hot!

  4. I don’t ever really stop eating soup for lunch — I find it’s a great healthy option to have as a mid-day meal. Yours looks phenomenal!

  5. Soup is one of my favorite things to eat, I don’t care if it’s 90+ degrees out right now, I will eat it! :)

  6. I rarely have soup EVER but, if I must, I like it creamy and thick OR French onion. Beyond that, I’d prefer solid foods.

I do, however, want to get back into my early morning workouts. It’s so easy to fall outta that habit!!
