It feels so great to be able to unwind and not have to worry about studying or practice tests. On Friday evening, Kevin and I took full advantage of my unwinding and went out to dinner with our neighbors, Joe and Teresa. We headed to Funky Monkey Wine Co. in the Mills50 district. I had been wanting to try that restaurant for awhile and was excited when Teresa suggested it.
Their menu has a large variety of sushi rolls and traditional entrees. I was tempted to go for the sushi but decided to order the mahi mahi.
The mahi was very good, but my favorite part of the dish was the pumpkin risotto it was served upon. The spices reminded me of pumpkin pie, and it was creamy and decadent. I loved it.
Joe ordered salmon and let me sneak a bite. The sweet soy glaze on the salmon was delicious. It tasted like candy.
Teresa and Kevin both ordered short ribs, which were also really good, but I actually thought our wedding short ribs we had last week tasted better.
The atmosphere at Funky Monkey is really nice. It’s on the smaller size, so very intimate, and the menu is very diverse. It would be great for a date night. I can’t wait to try their sushi.
I had been wanting to somehow thank Kevin for everything he has done for me while I was studying for the GMAT. He took over all the household responsibilities of cooking and grocery shopping, and he made sure the house was completely quiet while I was studying. His favorite cake flavor is red velvet, so his sister and I made a batch of red velvet cookies, the recipe which was on the side of the red velvet cake mix box.
They turned out delicious. It feels so nice to be back in the kitchen again.
