Some people wake up at 6 a.m. on the weekend to get in their morning run. I wake up that early to take GMAT practice tests. Oh, the joys of studying. I was happy to get it out of the way because it seems like we have had such busy weekends lately. I’m less than three weeks away from the big test day!
Guess what I (finally) got this week…

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the bulk of the purchases leading up to my Starbucks gold card came after I started studying.
I’m a sucker for reward programs.
Ironically, my first purchase with my new gold status wasn’t caffeinated.

I had an 8 a.m. meeting in downtown Orlando and needed a good on-the-go breakfast, but I didn’t want to be stuck carrying my overnight oats container all day. Starbucks oatmeal is so delicious.

I added in all the available nuts and fruit and omitted using any brown sugar. The oatmeal was delicious unsweetened. Overnight oats has given me a new appreciation for how good the simplest form of oatmeal can taste without any sweeteners.

Guess what else arrived this week…

Gotta love Girl Scout Cookies season!
After waffling for about two years, Kevin and I finally decided to cancel our membership to LA Fitness. We only continued going there out of convenience, and I haven’t been going as regularly due to studying. Most of my workouts have been at home or outside. Kevin started taking TRX classes and playing in different sport leagues, so neither of us were using our gym memberships enough to justify the costs. Plus, it felt like everyone around us was paying cheaper membership rates, and I just haven’t been thrilled with the quality of equipment, staff or crowds. We’re going to see what gym suits us the best after I’ve taken the GMAT. Please send any Orlando gym recommendations my way!
Do you have a gym membership? What is your gym like?
What’s your favorite Girl Scout cookie?

In Canada there’s only two kinds of Girl Scout Cookies – vanilla and chocolate sandwiches, and a thin mint kind! You guys are lucky with all the options!!
I go to Goodlife, which is the #1 gym in Canada (something like 1/45 Canadians are members – haha!) and pay about $65 per month (and sadly I haven’t been a single day in the past two weeks cause of being sick) but I get to go to any location all over the city and unlimited classes and I do like it.
ps congrats on getting your gold card and rewards! haha I’m about 3 stars away from mine, but haven’t really been buying my own starbucks since christmas! (only getting it when my dad offers to treat me, haha!)
Woo on canceling your membership! Make sure you mail that stupid sheet of paper in because they’ll tell you it’s all taken care of — and they’ll still charge you. They frustrate me!
I really do love the Y – they update their equipment yearly, which is a bonus for me. It’s very family oriented though and priced that way. One of my brothers goes to 24 Hour Fitness (http://www.24hourfitness.com/) (the other one went to your LA Fitness!) and he likes it.
Haha I loved seeing this post because I, too, posted when I became a Starbucks gold card member! I do belong to a gym–NYSC–but this one in particular is small and difficult to get cardio machines right away :\ I wish I could belong to a nicer gym but it ain’t in the budget right now.
Wise choice getting rid of the LA membership, my friend! That place is preeeetty overpriced– I heard the downtown YMCA is a great one, so maybe you’d like it there too!
I go to 24 hour fitness, which is relatively cheap, but definitely not the best thing out there. I mainly just go in for BodyPump or when I feel lonely running at my tiny apartment gym.
Congrats!
i ordered a few boxes of Samoas for Shane and myself. That should last us a week
I agree that oatmeal doesn’t need sweetener. I don’t even like that prepackaged oatmeal anymore, its so overly sweet!
Somoas all the way!
Congrats on the gold card!! I love Starbucks Oatmeal too. It’s so good.
My favorite Girl Scout Cookies are Thin Mints, Caramel Delights, and Tagalongs. Yum!
Totally jealous of your girl scout cookies! I love tagalongs and thin mints the best. Mmmmmm
I’ve been toying w/ the idea of getting a membership at the downtown Y, but it’s pretty pricey. I don’t have a membership now but I’m starting to think I should just bite the bullet & get one.
OMG Girl Scout cookies. They are all amazing but Samoas are the best.
Also, I just awarded you the Liebster Award because I enjoy your blog so much! Check out my latest post and spread the love
Oatmeal and Girl Scout cookies? Sounds like a great food day! On my busy days I try to always have a bag of Kellogg’s FiberPlus(R) cereal or one of the high-fiber snack bars with me so I don’t get overly hungry. Having fiber-licious food on hand definitely helps me stay more focused.
Good luck with your gym hunting. I’m sure you’ll find a better fit soon.
Thin mints are the bomb, although their name is so misleading!
I haven’t belonged to a gym since law school (Gainesville Health and Fitness –
), so I can’t give you any great advice. I hear the Downtown Y is good though.
