My best girls

I had big plans on Saturday, so I fueled up with a hot bowl of oatmeal.

breakfast

Of course, I added a blob of almond butter. This was actually my first attempt at making hot oatmeal. There were some overflow issues, but a good amount made it in the bowl.

After my hearty breakfast, I gathered up my three favorite girls to go bridesmaid dress shopping.

Bridesmaid dress shopping was actually way more fun than wedding dress shopping because I just got to sit back and look at pretty dresses on my best friends. I figured with only three bridesmaids, it should be easy for them to agree on one dress. They tried on quite a few.

I’m going to wait until the wedding to reveal the winner (none of the above), but I love it, and I’m really excited for the end product. The actual dress color will be eggplant to match the tie that the groomsmen will be wearing.

After shopping, we headed out for lunch at Jersey Mike’s for lunch and talked more wedding stuff.

sub

I got an Italian sub, which hit the spot. It was such a great and successful day. I always feel so lucky to have such great friends in my life.

What were your wedding colors? If you’re not married, what do you envision your wedding colors to be?

  1. I really want to have a fall wedding so I’m hoping my wedding colors will be deep oranges and champagnes. I loove plum and deep purples too. The groomsmen’s tie is so cute! I like that it’s a not the traditional matchy-matchy.

  2. That’s a fun trip!! I actually let the girls choose their dresses. It was an outdoor wedding and I gave them a palette of orange/pink/yellows to choose from. It turned out great!

  3. Aw! Looks like all the loose ends are coming together!! I’m so excited for you Jessica!

  4. I really wanted my wedding colors to be green, black, and silver. I was going to get Hunter green bridesmaid dresses. But then when I canceled my wedding and went to Vegas, the wedding package I got provided the flowers – and I couldn’t choose the colors – they were red and white. So I decided to go for a red bridesmaid’s dress. Well, MOH dress. I didn’t have any bride’s maids.

  5. Congrats on finding your bridesmaids’ dresses! I love that you chose eggplant as one of your colors, I think it’s beautiful. I think my wedding colors will probably depend on the season…but I love deep plums and reds.

  6. What a fun day! I can’t wait to see what dress you picked! I have no clue on what colors I would go with, but I love the eggplant you selected! I’m a big fan of rich, deep cool colors like purples and blues pair with lighter pastels. I’m not as into warm colors like reds and browns for a wedding.

  7. Congratulations on finding bridemaids dresses. :) Seems like your friends really enjoyed the experience. If I ever got married, I think I would want to do a fall wedding… So my colors would probably be deep red, orange and golden yellow, like all the leaves outside. But I do like your choices in colors. The eggplant color is beautilful!

  8. I’ve never thought about my wedding colors but now I think I’m going to do a little pinteresting to explore!

  9. Oh man, so fun! My colors were lilac, with some green and pretty white from flowers.

  10. Those are all beautiful bridesmaids dresses! I would love my wedding to have a pop of teal, but I’m not sure about any other colors at the moment.

  11. All of those dresses are gorgeous, I can’t wait to see which you went with!

  12. Congrats on picking your colors! It’s so exciting! :) My colors are plum and silver with a splash of fuschia just for the flowers.

  13. Who knows when my time will come for a wedding, but I love the look of classic champagne bridesmaid dresses. People say it’s bad since it “competes” with the bridal gown, but I think it’s stunning.

  14. Loving your choice of colors, it’s going to look great!

  15. My bridesmaid dresses were bronze (I swear, it was prettier than it sounds). My reception flowers were bright pinks, lime green and coral. The ceremony flowers were traditional white with greenery.

  16. Looks like a fun day! I really like the dresses your bridesmaids tried on! I love your eggplant color too. I said I’ve always wanted my bridesmaids (provided I get married) to wear black. Some people think it’s a great idea, others look at me funny when I say black!

  17. I REALLY wanted Eggplant for my bridesmaid dresses – but they were out in that color or something when I went to order. I went with burgundy instead. Then I paired it with champagne and it almost ended up looking like garnet and gold. I swear it wasn’t intentional!!

  18. Hannah @ Eat, Drink and Save Money

I had such a hard time matching colors that I ended up getting champagne colored dresses and tying my teal color into other places. It is so hard to match perfectly!

  19. Fun! I will be doing that very same thing in April as a bridesmaid for my cousin’s wedding. My colors were plum and silver, but I told my florist that I wanted the bridesmaids’ bouquets (and other flowers used throughout the wedding) to be extremely colorful to pop off the deep plum bridesmaids dresses. They carried hand-tied bouquets of multi-colored gerbera daisies (hot pink, red, orange, yellow), which looked great. :)

  20. I love the simplicity of the champagne-colored dress in the first dresses picture, in the middle.

I’m not married yet and if I ever do take the plunge, it’ll have to be minty/pistachio green.

  21. You all look so beautiful in those dresses!
