Birthday continued

Kevin’s birthday dinner on Thursday was a success! Publix Greenwise sirloins are really great quality and much more tender than their regular steaks. On the side, we served garlic mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.

And the silly birthday boy brought me cupcakes on his birthday. They were red velvet from Sweet!

It really did feel like my birthday because not only did I get red velvet cupcakes, but last night we went out for sushi: my favorite! I’m lucky that Kevin’s friends are huge sushi fans, so we went to our neighborhood favorite, Bikkuri.

Kevin ordered tempura chicken fried rice.

Kevin’s friend Travis ordered beef wrapped asparagus, which he said was delicious.

We also ordered a bunch of sushi rolls.

I’ve said it before, but Bikkuri Sushi is so fresh and good, and their prices are incredibly reasonable. I really enjoyed the sweet potato roll, which tasted like a sweet potato fry. I also ordered the roasted garlic roll, which I had always contemplated but had chickened out. I’m so glad I tried it! The garlic flavor was dominant in the roll, but it was a sweet garlic flavor, not raw. It also didn’t leave my breath on fire, which is good.

Today Kevin is golfing with his buddies, and I met up with my friends at the art festival at Lake Eola (recap to come tomorrow).

I’m just beside myself over how great the weather is outside. It’s so beautiful. And I’m really looking forward to watching the LSU/Alabama game tonight. Being a Gator, it’s hard to cheer for either team, but it should be a good game!

Who do you think will win?

  1. that is a huge piece of cow sister! Personally I would not considered them friends unless they offered a portion to you. FOODIES abide by sharing around the table. That’s just selfish of him. (Venting sorry!)

  2. The roasted garlic roll at Bukkuri is my favorite!
