Today is Kevin’s birthday, and he hates when people bring attention to that fact. So, obviously, I’m going to blog about it. Happy birthday, Kevin!

I’m whipping up dinner for him now, and tomorrow we’re going to dinner to celebrate. Last night, we went out to dinner with my parents at Linda’s La Cantina, a favorite of my parent’s. It’s a family-owned steak house, and they serve really high-quality steaks for a pretty affordable price.
Their menu is pretty small basically consisting of different cuts of steak; although they do offer chicken and shrimp as well. Each meal comes with a salad and a side.
I ordered the smallest cut of meat on the menu, the four-ounce filet mignon, which happens to come wrapped in bacon, with a side of broccoli.

I knew I was in trouble diet-wise when my steak came wrapped in bacon and my broccoli came in its own pool of butter. At least my meal was extremely delicious. Everything was very flavorful. My steak was extremely tender and the perfect size.
Kevin ordered a New York strip steak, which I think may have been four times the size of mine.

For dessert we split some cheesecake.

Kevin’s birthday celebration continues tonight with some organic steaks I picked up (yes, steaks two nights in a row is the perfect birthday celebration for Kevin) and homemade mashed potatoes—Kevin’s favorite.
I’ve eating nothing but spinach today in preparation.
Thanks for all your feedback and support with my calorie counting flop. I’m going to look into your suggestions to see if any of your tricks work for me.
I’m off to cook for the birthday boy. Have a great evening!

Happy Birthday to Kevin!! I hope your dinner was lovely
It sounds yummy to me!
Happy birthday to Kevin!! Steaks two nights in a row is definitely a perfect birthday celebration for the guys.
Happy birthday to the hubbs!
Happy Birthday to Kevin! Anything wrapped in bacon is so worth the calories. My boyfriend’s mom makes bacon wrapped turkey for Thanksgiving..so good!
Holy crap, can I come over for Thanksgiving?
I always assumed Linda’s was just a gross hole in the wall! It’s cool to know that it’s actually a neat place.
My boyfriend’s birthday is Saturday and he requested fried chicken cutlets and a double layer cake for dinner. I’ll be doing your spinach trick.
and Happy Birthday to Kevin!
Aww Happy Birthday to Kevin! Steak two nights in a row is a glorious idea if you ask me
I LOVE steak as well. I could eat it every day. Oh man. I was a vegetarian for more than 3 years and it was my top craving – besides turkey – and I was so excited to have it again!
Happy Birthday Kevin!
(P.S. Holy pool of butter Batman! That’s crazy! Yummy dinner though
