The birthday celebration continues. (Note: my birthday isn’t until tomorrow.) After my delicious and fun celebration with my friends on Saturday night, last night Kevin and I joined my dad and step mom for a birthday dinner at Bonefish Grill in Longwood. I love Bonefish, and when Kevin and I first started dating, I was enamored by the fact that he used to be a sous chef at Bonefish. Visions of endless Bang Bang Shrimp danced in my mind.
I started out with a seasonal drink, their fresh apple martini. It’s odd because I’m not a huge drinker, but at Ichiban I sipped down two orders of lychee sake and last night I had two apple martinis. Happy birthday, Jessica!

Our family motto is “Let’s get some appetizers,” which I completely forgot to photograph. We ordered seared ahi tuna, edamame and beef dumplings. Three appetizers for four people may seem like a lot, but to our family, it’s normal. Sometimes we do have to intervene to make sure my dad doesn’t order one of everything.
I actually ended up ordering an appetizer for my main course: the Mussels Josephine.

It’s a big bowl of PEI mussels in a light and buttery broth. I asked for fresh bread to soak up all the delicious sauce. They were so flavorful.
Kevin ordered steak, my dad ordered mahi and my step mom ordered the Kobe beef burger.

I think everyone was really happy with their meals. For dessert, I ordered crème brulee, which I polished off without any help and I think without taking any breaths. I love crème brulee.
It was great to get together with my parents. They just returned from a two-week trip to Italy, so it was wonderful to hear their stories.
My company gives everyone a birthday holiday, so I get tomorrow off work, and I decided to take today off for an extra long weekend. I’ve just been enjoying my time and relaxing today.
What’s your ideal birthday meal?

That burger looks too big to fit in my mouth. (TWSS?) I think a perfect bday meal would be a gyro from somewhere good and probably a cupcake from Sweet! Maybe some frozen yogurt too, but we’ll see how the cupcake goes first.
Happy (early) Birthday! Looks like you are definitely getting all the celebrating you can in.
I’m glad you reviewed Bonefish because I’ve been wanting to check it out for a while.
I’ll go for any Italian or Greek meal for my b-day. Or maybe both?
Now that’s what I call a burger and fries! I want to live in Orlando again
I’m a HUGE Bonefish Grill lovahh! Will and I are always sure to get the Mussels Josephine every single time.
And hey– a birthday celebration can last all month if you want it to
That is an awesome company policy! Can they make it a universal mandate?
What a great company policy! Sushi for my perfect birthday dinner
I’ve never been to that restaurant but have heard great things. My ideal bday dinner would involve Thai food or Italian food and definitely ice cream for dessert!
Happy Birthday!!!
I love the bang bang shrimp from the Bonefish Grill! That apple martini looks delicious
I’m glad you had a great birthday dinner!
Hmmm, I think a nice dinner out is ideal with family and friends – probably Thai food.
Happy birthday!! Every bit of that food looks amazing. My favorite birthday meal is anything seafood. Make it surf and turf and I’m in heaven. I love seafood and could eat it everyday. Have a fabulous day!
Happy Birthday!!!!
I just want cookie cake. That’s all, please
Good thing my hubby’s birthday is tomorrow and it’s his favorite!
Happy birthday! Looks like it was a great one, no better way to celebrate than with loved ones & delicious food!
Everything looks delicious! Crème brulee is such a treat!
Sounds like a great time! I usually go for something Italian, but that burger looks pretty awesome.
