I can’t believe the three-day weekend is already coming to an end. I really wanted to use this weekend to spend some quality time with Kevin since we’ve both been so busy and he’s been working such late nights, and I think we succeeded.
On Friday evening, we went out to celebrate the end of the workweek and the beginning of the long weekend at Shipyard Emporium in Winter Park. I was excited to try the new restaurant and sample new-to-me beers. Shipyard Emporium is actually a market, bakery and restaurant, so you can buy cases of their beers there in addition to eating in.
We sat out on the patio, and it was a really nice evening. We got a break in the humidity and there was a nice breeze, so it was pleasant to be outside. I hope this is a sign of weather to come this fall!
I started out with the Shipyard Pumpkinhead beer, which I’m so excited is in season. I’m pretty much a fan of pumpkin-flavored everything, and beer is no exception. The beer is smooth, mild and sweet with hints of spices that suggest pumpkin pie. I’m not a huge beer drinker, but this is definitely something I could get used to.

Kevin ordered Shipyard’s Summer Ale then switched to the Pumpkinhead for his second.

Shipyard’s menu consists of a lot of New England favorites, such as lobster rolls, and also had various sandwiches, flatbreads and salads. You could even create your own meat and cheese plate from options from the deli case. I was very tempted to do that but then changed my mind once I saw the Lake Virginia B.O.A.T. sandwich. B.O.A.T. stands for bacon, onion, avocado and tomato…pretty much my favorite sandwich ingredients. The sandwich did not disappoint.

It was served on their freshly made-on-the-spot multi-grain bread, which was chewy and lovely. Their sandwiches come with a choice of sides. I opted for the potato salad, which consisted of red potatoes, celery and a little too much dill. The potato salad was nothing special, but the sandwich was perfect. I could have eaten two.
Kevin ordered the Charcuterie Flatbread, which was topped with marinara sauce, capocollo, sopressata, Genoa salami and havarti cheese. Kevin really enjoyed it.

I thought the crust was delicious, but the meats were a little too salty for my taste, and I thought it could use a little more cheese.
I had a great time at dinner, and I really liked Shipyard’s menu and beer selection. I have a feeling I’ll be back for more Pumpkinhead while I can get it.

I definitely got swept up in holiday festivities this weekend, which kept me from working out. On Saturday, I couldn’t peel myself away from college football, and on Sunday, we went over to Kevin’s parents’ house for BBQ-ing and family time. I made sure to hit up the gym today to get moving!
Are you a beer drinker? What is your favorite kind of beer?

I like beer a lot more than cocktails…my beer of choice is Blue Moon!
They have a pumpkin beer out right now too!
I cannot tell a lie. I’m a beer lover
I need to get my hands on some pumpkin beer this fall!!
Beer… My #1 enemy keeping me off my diet. I like Blue Moon too but found 2 different beers this weekend that i really like. Magic Hat #9…I got at Publix and Post Road Pumpkin Ale I got at Whole Foods. Yum yum yum!
I’ve seen Magic Hat! I’ll have to give it a try!
Glad you had a good weekend and got to spend some extra time with Kevin
I am not a beer drinker in the least, but I loveeee myself a good margarita!
Mmm margaritas are definitely tasty!
This is my favorite fall beer, hands down! It took forever for me to find it, but it was worth the wait!
I haven’t seen it in too many places down here either. I need to drink it up while I can!
I love pumpkin beer!
I haven’t seen that Pumpkinhead beer. I’m going to have to look for it. Right now my beer of choice is Dogfish Head Punkin Ale!
I’ll have to try that out! Who knew there were so many varieties of pumpkin beer? I feel like I’m so behind!
I love beer! I don’t have it often but during college football season I up my intake, I blame all the game watching haha My favorite beer is Shiner Bock, have you had it? It’s delicious!
Haven’t heard of it–I’ll have to look for it next time I’m at World of Beer. That’s where I do all my “sampling”!
Glad you had such a fun weekend pretty lady!
I love this type of beer! Can’t wait to get my hands on some this season
Thank you! Why can’t every weekend be 3-days long??
So glad I found your blog so now I know new places to go in my own home town! That place sounds awesome. I love beer, but I usually don’t like any beer outside of the bud light / cornona family. I am lame. But at least I still drink beer and I think that’s what counts here.
I’m a nondiscriminating beer drinker. My tastes are definitely not high class when it comes to beer. Can, bottle…I’ll take it!
I want to go to there!! (That was a 30 Rock reference
)
I don’t love all beer (I could do without Bud Light or any light beer really) – but I love flavored beer and I love wheat beer. I REALLY need to try that Pumpkinhead. I saw they had it at Publix this week – but I wasn’t really to shell out $9 for a six back. Maybe this weekend!
They sell it by the case at Shipyard Emporium too! Maybe it’s cheaper there?
GAH! I need to get a pumpkin ale like ASAP!! I’m not a big beer drinker at all, but I always like to have at LEAST a sip of a pumpkin/harvest ale during this time of year.
Definitely. It’s pretty much a rule that you have to try pumpkin flavored everything right now. Soon it’ll be peppermint and gingerbread!
That pumpkin beer sounds interesting. I can’t wrap my head around the flavors together. I think I might have to find me some to try.
I really enjoy Killians and Sam Adams. The Octoberfest should be out soon which I’m really excited about.
Sam Adam’s is my boyfriend’s favorite! Octoberfest is out! We just got some this past weekend! Sam Adams also has a pumpkin beer, I learned.
I love beer but I like it to taste like water so I usually drink Michelob Ultra, ha! My Aunt lives in Orlando and the last time we visited her, we ate at Dexters (? I think that was the name) but next time we’ll have to hit up Shipyard Emporium – my husband is a beer fanatic
I love Dexter’s! That’s actually pretty close to me. They have an amazing bloody Mary. Let me know next time you’re in Orlando! I’ll give you a list of my favorite places to go!
For sure – the food was delish and I loved the atmosphere at Dexter’s! I’ll definitely hit you up for the Orlando hot spots before our next visit!
I’m not a huge beer fan but I do love frozen drinks! —>The Girly ones! Also, are you planning on taking advantage of Magical Dining this month?? I would love to read your reviews!!
I was actually just milling over menus today! I need to choose which one I want to try! Are you planning on hitting any up?
I really want to try it!! I’m not sure where I will go though!! There are so many choices!!
