Ode to the Wake n’ Bacon

A couple months ago I had a random day off work that not many others had so I basically worked out and watched daytime television while everyone was working. I was watching Live with Regis and Kelly, and one of their guests was singer Josh Grobin. Josh Grobin started talking about his alarm clock, which involves placing slices of the raw bacon inside, and right before you’re scheduled to wake up, the alarm clock cooks the bacon and you wake up to the scent of bacon perfuming throughout your bedroom. He wakes up and eats half the slice of bacon then gives the other half to his dog.

Obviously my first thought upon watching this was, “How did I not know about this??”

Apparently I’m way behind the curve, but in case you are as well, I wanted to share the bacon-y wealth.

The Wake n’ Bacon is the invention of Matty Sallin, a UI and experience designer and entreprenuer. He presented his idea on ABC’s Shark Tank but ultimately did not walk away with the money. However, since then his product has gained quite the following being featured in The New York Times, Engadget, Good Morning America, etc.

It doesn’t look like the product is being mass marketed or sold yet, but I find the idea fascinating and mouth-watering. Who doesn’t love waking up to the smell of bacon?

  1. Hi:) I saw the photo and decided to read your post. Lol :) Seems like the perfect gift for my bacon-obsessed brother! And your right–the idea is fascinating– I wonder if a clock that can make a complete meal is in the works too? :)

  2. And have it laid out on a tray! :)
